New Conference for 2012 Season
With off-season training in full force, players and coaches are preparing for a new set of opponents. This will be the Bulldogs first full year in the newly formed Granite Ridge Conference. Sanctioned by the Minnesota State High School League, the conference was designed to create a better alignment for the involved schools. Play started last year with the charter schools Foley, Little Falls, Milaca, Mora, Princeton, Saint Cloud Cathedral, and Zimmerman. This year the conference adds Albany and Becker.
While the move comes with mixed feelings from some Becker supporters, as Becker owned the best overall record in their former conference, Mississippi 8, Coach Lundeen is ready to leave that same mark on the new conference, "Becker football staff and players would like to remind all of our loyal fans to please come and support us in our new conference - working together we can again let the Granite Ridge conference schools know that the road to a conference championship comes thru Becker."
Last season the Bulldogs did have two games against Granite Ridge opponents, winning both. They pulled out a last minute comeback against Mora, 27-26, and easily handling Little Falls, 31-7. This year they'll match up against all the conference opponents except St. Cloud Cathedral. The 'dogs open the season and conference play at home against Milaca.
